Sherpa Kids provides a creative, engaging, fun, safe and secure environment for the care of our school communities. We pride ourselves on adhering to International Best Practice and standards. Sherpa Kids is a franchised out of school hours care (before school care, after care and holiday care) business which currently operates in New Zealand, Australia, England, Ireland and have just secured Master Franchisors for Canada. Established in 1996 in New Zealand, Sherpa Kids now operates in over 160 primary schools globally offering an internationally benchmarked curriculum (in childcare not education) which has no direct competitors in South Africa- in either the franchising industry or within the end user market: schools, parents and children being served.
The service is offered to schools at no cost and reduces their current burden if they run the current on-site aftercare themselves or provides a quality benchmarked alternative to their current outsourced independent private provider, does not cost parents more than they currently pay, offers franchisees a low risk opportunity in a high demand, high growth sector and most importantly provides children with quality care; not simply free play or basic child minding.

Services
Opening hours for before and after school care and holiday care programmes are tailored to the needs of the school and the parent community. Our point of difference is our planned activities. These are generally based on a weekly structure as follows:
Monday: Arts/Crafts
Tuesday: Music/Drama
Wednesday: Sport/Games
Thursday: Cooking/Technology
Friday: Fun Activities.
Before School Care – We provide supervised care for the children that are left at schools before school start. This service is for parents that needs to be at work early like shift and nursing workers
After School Care – We provide care for all children on the school property after normal school hours. We provide our service from 12:30 – 18:00. A ‘typical’ After School Care daily routine is as follows:
- Roll call, a light lunch and free play
- Guaranteed Homework supervision
- Daily Themed Structured Activity
- Outside play (if weather/light permits)
- Tidy up, quiet time
Holiday Care – We provide holiday care for families that can’t take leave every school holiday to look after their children. We provide a full days program with planned and themed activities. This service is run from 07:00 – 18:00, Monday to Friday during school holidays. We also provide a light meal and snack during the course of the day.
